I tried Katz Deli today. Its only 3 blocks away from our apartment which is convenient. I tried the Chicken Noodle Soup and Potato Knish. I was curious to know what a knish was, since I had seen it written on menus all over the city. Katz was very busy and there were tons of tourists there.
After lunch, I jumped over to Russ and Daughters to check out their selection in cheeses. Russ and Daughters had a great selection of chocolates, cheeses, and fish. They are known for Jewish soul food. I saw smoked fish, fresh made cream cheeses, lox, sable, herring, beet salad, potato salad, nuts and other various dried fruits. I ended up getting about a pound of cheese of 2 kinds of cheese. Ummmmmm.
So Scott and I have relocated to NYC for a couple years. The city seems like a lot of fun. I have been busy with a lot of work, and arriving on a Tuesday doesn't allow much time for exploring. I can't wait for the weekend.
I gave myself a 'welcome-to-new-york' gift this afternoon. I treated myself to a facial and ended up with a lot of product. The stuff really adds up. I have not spent so much money on myself before and have been kinda regretting it all day.
I went to dinner at a local Mexican place tonight. Scott is in Boston for tonight. I encounter 3 instances of people arguing on the street. Took Blu to the Tomkin Square small dog park and she ended up sitting next to me on the bench the whole time. Everyone else quietly sits on different benches or is on their cell phone at the dog park. No one talks to each other in this city. Its really strange to me.
My Dad and I found a little bird in my car engine a few weeks ago. We opened the hood to refill the washer fluid and as I peeked down into the engine, I noticed a tiny bird in front of the radiator. It was probably a parking lot finch, those cute birds that hang out in Kroger's or Target's parking lots hunting for scraps and crumbs. I might of hit the bird as he was flying across the street; somehow this bird found its way into the grill of my car and ended up in front of the radiator. The bird was a soft grey and brown color. Her feet were delicate and the claws were grasping as rigor mortis had already set in. It was a blistering hot day outside as we stood there and I hated imagining the torturous heat and pain the bird must have endured in her final moments. Today I picked my car up from the repair shop. My car had a broken AC fan.
So I have decided if we had to live anywhere else, your choice, it might be Portland. Portland is such and awesome city.
These are some etchings that were on the doors in the subway station near the rose gardens. Art is all over the city.

These next photos are from the tide pools at the beach above. This is somewhere between cannon beach and manzanita.
I was reviewing our photos from our napa valley. Thought these were some nice shots. Enjoy!
I like to photograph food. These are from the Auberge restaurant in the wine country.
These are pictures from where we stayed. They had horses on the property and every morning these turkeys would pay us a vocal visit
I thought this tree looked like a penis. Am I crazy?
We finally found our nest in NYC. It is in the lower east side of the island. I think I am finally getting excited about this. The apartment is not a 2 bedroom like we had hoped for, but it is a very large one bedroom with an alcove area for my office. The locating is nice, and the main selling point was the Essex St. market which is steps away. Living by a market that sells fresh fruits, meats, veggies and flowers has got to be convenient. We also just signed up on the Italian Greyhound meetup for NYC. It happens that the venue for the meetup is just a few blocks from our new place.
